Oh Messi You're So Fine

I am in love.

Yes, I love my husband but I am in love with another man.

But before you say "WHAT"? I am in love with Lionel Messi....but not how you think.

I love watching this man play futbol!! Oh he is a treat to watch. I suppose that's why I have become an FC Barcelona fan (La Liga futbol in Spain). I find myself right now watching Argentina & Nigeria in the World Cup because of him. I actually thought they were playing early this morning @ 4am PT. I couldn't get myself up that early so I did get up @ 5:15 hoping to watch the last of his game. Much to my dismay: Argentina wasn't playing until 7am. Oh well, what's a few hours sleep lost when it's for the beautiful one?

His game is just beautiful to watch and he is only in his early 20's. He moves. He sways. He runs with such grace. It can be mesmerizing to watch. He goes one way and by the time the defender goes that way, he is already going the other way and the ball is passed to a teammate. For such a "small" guy, he holds up well against bigger opponents. He controls the ball when you think he is about to lose it. He makes others look foolish. Isn't that the sign of any great player? Can you de-pants your opponent & put them on the ground? Kind of like that song "Pants on the Ground":

"Pants on the ground.
Pants on the ground.
Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground."

He depantses (is that a word?) his opponent. Oh such sweet delight. How I love thee Lionel Messi. From afar I cherish our time together this morning. Parting will be such sweet sorrow. (ooh he just missed a goal). But until our departure....I will enjoy our distant encounter.
